Breathe a World is the final book in Lawler’s element series (QUINTESSENCE), written over the last 35 years. It includes two books which speak evocatively to each other: “the exhalation therapist” and “breathe a wor(l)d.”

Among his awards are two New York State Foundation for the Arts Fellowships, a Constance Saltonstall Foundation for the Arts Grant, the CNY Book Award for Fiction, and a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship. He has written, in collaboration or individually, numerous plays and film scripts.
